Etymology[]

"Armyverse" is a fan-created term representing the Army of the Dead universe. The term was initially created due to all media sharing the "Army of. . ." title, at the time including two movies and a series. With the announcement of the sequel's title, Planet of the Dead, this title trend no longer remained the case, however franchise creator Zack Snyder eventually began using the term "Armyverse" himself, effectively solidifying it as the name of the franchise. The term is now commonly used among fans and cast of the franchise.

Potential projects[]

The following are projects that members of production have publicly considered developing in the future, but have not been confirmed for future release.

  • Planet of the Dead sequel: Zack Snyder claimed that he and Shay Hatten have an Army of the Dead trilogy planned, indicating Planet of the Dead will not finish the arc.[2]
  • Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas season 2: Snyder also stated that it would take a second season of Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas for the story to meet up with Army of the Dead, though he did not suggest he necessarily planned to make it happen.[3]
  • Marianne Peters spinoff: Another project Zack Snyder thought would be fun is a prequel to Peters' appearance in Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, wherein how she goes from dryly narrating helicopter tours of the Grand Canyon to flying rescue missions in Las Vegas would be explored. Flight of the Dead was a loose title being considered.[4]
  • Area 51 spinoff: A concept Deborah Snyder mentioned to Den of Geek was a spinoff based on Area 51 eventually happening down the line.[5]
  • Rolph prequel: Both Zack Snyder and Guz Khan have expressed interest in a Rolph prequel-spinoff. Specifically considered was an Army of Thieves prequel spinoff featuring the character, before zombies ever became a part of the world. Drifters of the Dead was mentioned as a possible title.[6]
  • Rolph and Brad Cage spinoff: Zack Snyder mentioned the concept of Rolph and Brad Cage returning to tell the story of their lives after being sent to prison in a movie that could take place entirely within the prison.[6]
  • Other spinoffs: While promoting Army of Thieves with Matthias Schweighöfer in an interview on Vero, Zack Snyder mentioned considering multiple spinoff films that would each be set in a different location in a different language, with Army of Thieves planned to be entirely in German at the time. No specific projects were mentioned, apart from Army of Thieves itself.[6]
    • It's of note that Lilly speaks French while Mikey Guzman and Cruz speak Spanish. Hiroyuki Sanada, who plays Bly Tanaka, and Huma Qureshi, who plays Geeta, both speak English as a second language, making it likely their characters speak their first languages as well - Japanese and Hindi, respectively. This makes these characters the most likely candidates for the prequel/spinoff projects mentioned here.
  • Army of Thieves 2: Matthias Schweighöfer filmed a "completely crazy" test scene with Zack Snyder's stunt crew for a potential Army of Thieves 2 in 2023. No word was given as to whether the project was being considered beyond this concept at the time.[7]
